Went to tidy up/fix up a secure 8000 (MCM Icon) today - what a shit bag this was . Had internal piezo & siren / strobe box with no strobe. The external siren turned out to be a piezo & had been wired to the siren o/p as had the external one. Hence a very sick sounding pair of piezos. The external cabling hung from the box at the second story eve to about 3 m from ground level then went in conduit under the house to the panel. Anyway conduited all the external cable up behind a downpipe. Rewired the internal piezo to the bell o/p , put in a horn for the external & all was good. Then they asked for the entry time to be shortened , no worries. It seemed that everthing had been left at factory settings even the user code was 1111. But the prog & master codes had been changed. No worries - default & reprog , simple.
Do normal default proceedure & get codepad response indicating that it was successful. However neither install or master code defaulted to factory. These panels cannot be locked out but there is one other possibility. Watch 24 (Amway) used these panels and things like dialler No , Prog code & client No were not re-programmable. So even though it had a secure 8000 codepad I'm thinking that it actually wasn't a Chubb panel. The other strange thing was that after default & then put in default Prog code it didn't give the long beep like it does for a wrong code , it just sat there as if waiting for something else . I tried a few ADT prog codes & every one of them got the piss off beep But not the default one . Any ideas welcome.
